AT THE FIRST WELSH EVENING AT WALES MILLENNIUM CENTRE
Come to the first Welsh only evening at Wales Millennium Centre
where a feast of Wales’ best talents will be on hand to entertain.
Sain, Cerdd a Sioe is the name of the opening concert of the Urdd
National Eisteddfod this year that will be held at the main theatre
in the Wales Millennium Centre on Sunday May 29.
Members of the Urdd will join Welsh stars of stage and screen, past
winners of the Eisteddfod and the Urdd Youth Theatre, for a
colourful and theatrical presentation that will welcome the
Eisteddfod to the capital city and to a new look Eisteddfod.
This is a fantastic chance to see names like Aled Jones, Daniel
Evans who have gained so much from the Urdd join a cast of 300 young
people to sing some of the most popular songs from the musicals –
Cabaret, Les Miserables, Joseph and his technicoloured coat, Judas,
Nia Ben Aur and Chicago to name only a few.
Some past Urdd winners will also take part includin Huw Aeron who
recently won a BAFTA, Mirain Haf, Catrin Evans, Catherine Ayres,
Aled Pedrick, Tara Bethan, Rhian Mair Lewis, CF1, Glanaethwy, Ysgol
Gymraeg Aberystwyth and Ysgol Melin Gruffydd.
According to Meirion Davies Entertainment and Events Commissioner at
S4C:
“The popularity of the songs from the musicals will come alive
within Wales’ youth at this special evening. It will be a pleasure
to watch over 300 young, talented people from all over Wales
celebrating this form of performing. This will be the first Welsh
language evening at Wales Millennium Centre and S4C is very proud to
be broadcasting the performance.”
Sian Eirian, Urdd Gobaith Cymru Director of the Eisteddfod and the
Arts said:

people can share their talents with the nation on the main stage of
