BALLOON RACE WELCOMES URDD EISTEDDFOD TO DENBIGHSHIRE

Urdd Gobaith Cymru is organising a massive balloon race to welcome the Urdd National Eisteddfod to Denbighshire.

The race will be held on Saturday 13 May at Rhyl Leisure centre between 10-12 o’clock.

The event is organised by the local activities and publicity committee for the Eisteddfod with all profits going towards the Eisteddfod’s funds.

S4C’s colourful characters will be there with Mistar Urdd and Clwydo. There will be a rugby tournament between local schools and lots of fun and games. The owner of the balloon that travels furthest will receive a prize of £50 with a £25 prize given to the person that returns the winning balloon.  The person who sells the most balloons will also receive a prize.

Mair Edwards, Urdd Development Officer for Denbighshire said:

“I would like to thank all the school pupils in Denbighshire that have sold the balloons and we look forward to seeing over 1,600 balloons being released into the air in Rhyl.”

The Urdd Gobaith Cymru National Eisteddfod is held in Ruthin this year between 29 May and 3 June.
