THE URDD IS PART OF THE SENEDD LAUNCH

Urdd Gobaith Cymru has received an invitation to be part of the opening of The Senedd building on 1 March.

Three winning choirs at the Urdd National Eisteddfod 2005 will unite as the Urdd Choir. Bodringallt Primary School, Rhondda, Ysgol Gymraeg Aberystwyth and Ysgol Eifion Wyn, Porthmadog will take part with conductor Tim Rhys Evans.

Also taking part will be Lowri Walton, last year’s winner of the Urdd Gobaith Cymru Bryn Terfel Scholarship and Elain Llwyd, last year’s winner of the Urdd Gobaith Cymru National Eisteddfod Scholarship.

The choir will be staying at Gwersyll yr Urdd Caerdydd, Wales Millennium Centre. The Urdd centre is directly opposite The Senedd.

Efa Gruffudd Jones, Chief Executive for Urdd Gobaith Cymru said:

“It's a great privilege for Urdd members to be part of The Senedd opening celebrations. The success of The Senedd, like the success of Wales' children an young people, is vital to our country's future. It's magnificent that children and young people get the opportunity to be in possession of the building from the very first day.”

Urdd Gobaith Cymru would like to thank Arriva for their sponsorship.

Graeme Bunker, Managing Director of Arriva Trains Wales, said:

“As the main train operator in Wales, it is our pleasure to sponsor the trip to Cardiff so that the young people can attend this historic event. The young people will take advantage of our new Holyhead to Cardiff rail service, which runs every two hours, and strengthens links between North and South Wales.”
